National Human Trafficking Awareness Day is recognized on January 11. Human trafficking is a crime in which people profit from the control and exploitation of others, and it results in long-term negative effects on human life, families, and communities around the world. It is a multi-billion-dollar criminal industry that involves force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. (In support of National Human Trafficking Prevention Month and throughout the year, the poster below will be displayed at the Ohio Turnpike’s 14 service plazas across the 241-mile toll road.)
